MJR Power & Automation has been awarded a significant contract by A&P Group to deliver complete electrical power, propulsion and automation upgrade package for the life extension of PD Ports dredging vessel ‘Heortnesse’.

MJR Power & Automation will deliver the design, engineering, construction, installation, commissioning and class approval of the main propulsion (2 x 1.4MW), thruster (1 x 350kW) and dredge pump (1 x 500kW) DC drives with fully redundant integrated automation and controls (IACS) and power management system (PMS) using MJR Power & Automation’s proprietary marine automation platform (MAP OE®). Utilising commercial ‘off-the-shelf’ hardware and an open software platform, robust through life support is guaranteed. In addition, MJR Power & Automation will provide electrical and control upgrades of the bridge consoles, HMIs and MIMICS, Hydraulic Power Packs (HPU), remote outstations and power factor correction (PFC).  The electrical installation, commissioning and sea trials will be carried out by MJR Power & Automation at A&P’s Teesside yard during the vessels scheduled dry docking in 2020.
